Beers - Cheap beer
There really is nothing better than a coldie on a hot day! Or if you're an Aussie, then a coldie is pretty good on any day. When it comes to beers and cheap beer, it won't surprise you that Australian beer drinkers have been consistently ranked in the Top 5 Beer drinking nations in the world. Outmatched only by the Czech Republic, Ireland and Germany, we still consume our fair share of beers and cheap beer. It seems that almost every week there's a new beer on the market. We like our premium beers & cheap beer, we like imported beer, low carbohydrate beer, low alcohol beer, full strength beer, mid-strength beer... but the variety in Australia is almost endless.
Beer making dates back to 5,000 BC when yeast was first discovered in a sugar-water mixture. Beer is made when the naturally occurring starch found in grain is converted into sugar and then consumed by yeast. It's a much more complex process than wine making.
Along with the normal mainstay brands, there has been the development in recent years of many ‘Blonde' beers. This is the term used to describe the category of low carbohydrate beers. All the major breweries now market these beers, which have added to the diversity of Beers & Cheap Beers in Australia.
Food Matches: Beer goes with any food, but marries particularly well with anything you can throw on a barbie. Because of beer's gaseous nature, and the tendency to cause bloat...some find it preferable to nibble on smaller servings of "finger" food when consuming beer.
